September 20: New York, NY; 2:15PM

The Meerkat Media Collective, of Media That Matters How Wal-Mart Came to Haslett fame, will be screening their new Work-In-Progress Documentary STAGES during the IFP Market in New York City on September 20th at 2:15pm Angelika Film Center 18 W HOUSTON ST NEW YORK, NY 10012
In New York City's oldest community center, a group of older Puerto Rican women and youth of color unite to create an original play from the stories of their lives. Weaving together themes of immigration and gentrification, of aging and coming of age, Stages asks how our own stories can transform the way we understand ourselves and each other.
The film was collaboratively written, directed and produced by a team of 12 who make up the Meerkat Media Collective using a non-hierarchical consensus driven process. Just two years old, the collective has produced over twenty short films that have been featured in film festivals across the country and broadcast internationally. The website and videoblog meerkatmedia.org serves as a channel for self-distribution and a point of dialogue with a larger community of artists, mediamakers and activists.
