New Film From By-Standing’s Spoken Word Artist Kelly Zen-Ye Tsai

Kelly Tsai, the subject of By-Standing: The Beginning of an American Lifetime, featured in the Seventh Annual Media that Matters Festival, is currently working on promoting her newest film, Black, White, Whatever. Tsai, who is based in Brooklyn, has appeared in over 200 performances worldwide, released her debut CD Infinity Breaks, and established Moving Earth Productions, dedicated to promoting the voices of young people of color through art and poetry. By-Standing, directed by Karen Lin and produced by Karin Chien, captured Kelly's moving spoken word piece on the occupation of Iraq, and went on to win the War and Peace award. Black, White, Whatever is another spoken word video, this time dealing with issues of race in politics, calling on politicians to address the needs of underrepresented communities such as Asian Pacific Islander Americans. The viral online release of the video began on October 3rd, and can currently be seen on YouTube For more information on Kelly, her work, or Moving Earth Productions, visit her website at www.yellowgurl.com.
