May 30: Media That Matters and Cinereach at the Grassroots Media Conference, NY, NY at 10:30am- 12:00pm

Register now! The annual Grassroots Media Conference is back and Media That Matters, along with Arts Engine partner Cinereach will be presenting a screening and discussion full of useful advice for filmmakers trying to fund, produce and build an audience for short fiction and nonfiction films that balance artful storytelling with socially relevant themes.

A screening and discussion with Ben Herson and Annie Waldman, two filmmakers who have made - and built audiences for - socially relevant short films. Ben will discuss his film African Underground: Hip Hop in Senegal and the work of the Media That Matters Film Festival, which featured his film last year. . Annie Waldman and a staff member from Cinereach will talk about the Reach Film Fellowship program, through which Waldman made her Sundance-selected film And So the Wind Won’t Blow it All Away.

Sessions at the conference are led by many different community and media organizations, including friends and partners like Miro, Radio Roots, MNN and Arab Women Active in Arts and Media. Check the schedule for more info.
