HIV/AIDS and Gender in South Africa

Throughtout South Africa there are activists groups and organizations fighting to better the resources available to people with HIV/AIDS. iThemba documents the work of a choir of 30 Black South Africans, all of whom have HIV/AIDS. HIV/AIDS is a huge problem in the country, and a new study suggests that gender inequality exacerbates the health risks for women: South Africa: Gender Equality Needed in National HIV/Aids Policy
