HIV Women in Dominican Republic Face Double Discrimination

globe_logo.jpg.gif Some of our festival films examine the AIDS epidemic (I Promise Africa and iThemba) and women's rights across the border (Novela, Novela), helping put a face to these crises. On July 13, 2004 Human Rights Watch reported that women in the Dominican Republic are routinely subjected to involuntary HIV testing, and those who test positive are fired and denied adequate healthcare.
