GOOD Magazine and Arts Engine, inc. will be presenting Media That Matters: Good Food Collection this Saturday at GOOD December, a collaborative pop-up community center and gallery store by Openhouse, enabled by the i'm Initiative. Located in Nolita, the heart of downtown Manhattan at the Openhouse Gallery, 201 Mulberry St., the space will be open to the public daily from 11am-6pm December 6th through 23rd. The center is organized around the themes of Media, Environment, Technology, Design, Education, Culture, Business & Money, and Health. Come by and interact with like-minded others in your community! Check out the story behind the films, leave a question or comment, or find out ways in which you can get involved.

Movies on a Big Screen presents the seventh annual Media That Matters Film Festival on December 14 and December 15 at 7:00 PM. Location: 600 4th St, West Sacramento. Corner of 4th & F in West Sac, just over the river near The Pyramid Building. 7:00 PM. Admission: $5.00. Movies on a Big Screen previously brought this annual compilation of socially conscious short films to Sacramento for the first time. Now they are presenting the newest festival. Seating is mostly on folding chairs - feel free to bring a pillow or cushion, or even your own chair! Digital projection on to a large screen. Media That Matters’ BYSTANDING filmmaker - new feature

POPaganda: The Movie - December 4; Havana, Cuba

Media That Matters Film Festival winner POPaganda: The Art & Crimes of Ron English, the feature-length version, will be screened during the 29th Festival International del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano in the session Panorama Documental. From Dec. 4-14th, 2007 this prestigious film festival now on its 29th year, which takes place in the city of Havana for 10 consecutive engaging and fun days will showcase the best cinema has to offer with a particular emphasis in Latin-American Cinema. Vote for Media That Matters’ Slip of the Tongue as “Best of Imagining Ourselves”

Sixth Annual Media That Matters Film Festival winner Slip of the Tongue has been selected as one of the top ten short films in the International Museum of Women's Imagining Ourselves North America section. Slip of the Tongue is now in the running to be named the Best of Imagining Ourselves. Throughout December, people will be invited to vote on their favorite stories from seven regions: Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, Middle East, North America and Oceania. View Karen's story here.
