Documentary about Salmon Farming screening in DC
The Pure Salmon Campaign's second annual Global Week of Action, running from October 29 through November 2, will focus its attention on how current aquaculture practices continue to damage the marine environment and pose other dangers to human health and workers' safety.
On Wednesday, October 31 at the Goethe-Institut in Washington, D.C., the campaign will host a press reception and a screening of "Ovas de Oro," (Golden Eggs), a documentary that focuses on the environmental impacts of salmon farming in Chile and illustrates the hardships suffered by salmon workers, local fishermen, coastal communities and Chilean society as a whole. 51 Chilean salmon farm workers have lost their lives in work related accidents since 2005. Empty chairs will be left open at the screening in honor of the workers.
WHAT:

WHEN: Wednesday, October 31, 2007 11 a.m. WHERE: Goethe-Institut, 812 7th Street, NW (1 block from Gallery Place Metro, 7th and H St. exit) CONTACT: Dave Bard, 202.486.4426
