Oct. 7: ACME Media Reform Summit
The Action Coaltion for Media Education is hosting the media reform summit Facing the Media Crisis: Media Education for Reform, Justice and Democracy. From October 6-8 in Burlington, Vermont, there will be over 50 workshops and 20 plenary keynotes including: Pacifica Radio's host Amy Goodman, author/speaker Bill McKibben, author/citizen activist Diane Wilson, U.S. Senate Candidate Bernard Sanders;and actor/activist David Strathairn.
Arts Engine's Wendy Cohen is conducting a workshop, Media That Matters: Using Film to Engage Your Classroom and Community. Use film to turn awareness-raising into action. Get the tools you need to showcase thought-provoking films and run meaningful discussions that challenge audiences and plant the seeds for sustained community engagement. Highlights from the Sixth Annual Media That Matters Film Festival will be screened throughout the workshop!
