October 8: Community Food Security Coalition Conference, Atlanta, GA

Posted on September 15, 2005

If you've watched Young Agrarians and The Meatrix, then you understand the dangers of agribusiness and the importance of local, sustainable agriculture. Communities around the country are growing their own food, and the leaders of this grassroots movement are convening in Atlanta in October for the annual Community Food Security Coalition Conference.

For the second year in a row, Arts Engine's Director of Education and Outreach Shira Golding will moderate a panel focusing on the role that independent media can play in communicating the importance of community-based food systems. She will be joined on the panel by three Food and Society Policy Fellows: Wilbur J. Bullock, Johanna Divine and Anna Lappé. Johanna is the Director/Producer of Young Agrarians and Anna was on the jury of the fourth annual Media That Matters Film Festival. Wilbur has not been directly involved in Media That Matters in the past, but we are eager to collaborate with this innovator who is using popular music is a way to inspire young agriculturalists.
