Habana Outpost Fair Trade Party.
Friday, October 7th
8 - 11:30pm
755-757 Fulton Street,
Brooklyn, New York
Celebrate Fair Trade Month at New York City's first solar-powered restaurant and market. Sample Free Fair Trade certified coffee, tea, sugar, fruit and chocolate at Habana Outpost while listening to "Treasures of the Sea" (NY's finest jazz, blues and swing band) and viewing the film short, The Luckiest Nut in the World. The film follows an animated American peanut, who sings about the difficulties of nuts from developing countries and helps people to see how the pressure to embrace "free market" economics, with its promise of a wealthy, abundant market place has actually driven many countries further into poverty. Sponsered by Interruption*, the New York Fair Trade Coalition, Arts Engine, TransFair USA and many other Fair Trade producers.
