From gay rights to global warming, these films will make you think, make you laugh and move you to action!

SIGN UP NOW!

Host a screening in five easy steps:

Step 1: Get the Festival DVD
You've watched the films online but now you can bring the films to big and small screens in your community. The DVD includes filmmaker interviews and highlights from the Media That Matters Awards Ceremony. Show all 16 films or curate a screening on a them of your choosing. (See the free Teacher's Guide for suggested line ups.)

Step 2: Find a Space
A screening can be any size and shape. Whether you are sharing a few festival films with your friends and family or organizing a screening on your college campus or for your colleagues at work, make sure that you have a space appropriate for your audience and that you have the equipment that you need.

Step 3: Spread The Word
Email your friends and family, post to your blog, make an announcement in your staff meeting — do what it takes to let people know that you're screening Media That Matters in your community. For larger events that are open to the public, we suggest you download a customizable flyer to help publicize the event. Let us know the details and we'll promote the screening on this site and on MediaRights.org.

Step 4: Make The Most of Your Screening
Media That Matters is about empowering audiences to take action! Download action guides and programs and distribute them to your audience. Invite local activists and community leaders to moderate a discussion and discuss ways that people can get involved with the issues locally and nationally. Whether or not you are a teacher, you're bound to find some great ideas for discussions and activities in our free Teacher's Guide.

Step 5: Evaluate and Document
Did your screening make an impact? Download Evaluation Forms for you and the audience to fill out at the end of the event. Fill them out and send them to us, so we can track the success of Media That Matters around the country. We'll list your your name and city on our festival website. Be sure to take lots of photos and either send them to us or post them to the Media That Matters Flickr pool.

Thanks in advance for making April 2006 the most successful DIY Screening Month ever!
