Posted on December 07, 2005

Have you seen Neglected Sky ? This flash animation calls attention to the global warming crisis in the USA and the world. Between November 28 and December 9, Montreal, Canada is hosting the first Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol in conjunction with the eleventh session of the United Nations Climate Change Conference.

The United Nations Climate Change Conference is set to be the largest intergovernmental climate conference since the Kyoto Protocol was adopted in 1997. On November 30th, the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Montreal finalized the "rule book" of the Kyoto Protocol, the 1997 landmark treaty designed to curb greenhouse gas emissions. Under the Kyoto Protocol, which entered into force 16 February 2005, more than 30 industrialized countries are bound by specific and legally binding emission reduction targets. As a first step, these cover the period 2008-2012.

Unfortuanately, the USA has not joined the coalition of 157 countries that are committed to ratifying the Kyoto Protocol and it is the United States generates 25 percent of the worl's polluting carbon emissions with only 5 percent of its population. The Climate Crisis Coaition has put forth a petition called the The People's Ratification of the Kyoto Global Warming Treaty to demonstrate to US leaders and the world that citizens of the USA are in accordance with Kyoto and want the USA to ratify the Kyoto Protocal.

SIGN THE PEOPLE'S RATIFICATION OF THE KYOTO GLOBAL WARMING TREATY.
