Is Our Nation Endorsing Child Obesity?

Posted on August 18, 2005

Have you seen Young Agrarians? This short film profiles youth in California who recognize the benefits of farming and eating locallly grown produce. Sadly, many youth in the US do not have access to farm-fresh vegetables and far too many don't choose healthier items from the grocery store.

A recent article published in The Nation testifies to the alarming practices of the current administration that seems to be supporting junk food producers and suppressing research that points to the harmful effects of sugra-laden eating habits.

Gary Ruskin and Juliet Schor write, "the recent conflict over what America eats, and the way the government promotes food, is a disturbing example of how in Bush's America corporate interests trump public health, public opinion and plain old common sense."

Read the entire article from the Nation titled, "Junk Food Nation".
