Free Internet Access at Your Local Library

Posted on June 30, 2005

The film Laptop, encourages its viewers to visit local libraries to gain internet access. A study released by the American Library Association reveals that 98.8 percent of libraries offer free public internet access- up from 95 percent in 2002. 18 percent of libraries have wireless internet access and 21 percent plan to get it within the next year.

Offering free internet access may account for the rise in annual library visits that has increased from 500 million in the early 1990's to 1.2 billion today.
