Festival Awards Ceremony

On May 19th 2004, HBO hosts the Awards Ceremony for the fourth annual Media That Matters Film Festival. Hosted by Chuck D. and including special guests comic Seth Herzog and Super Size Me director, Morgan Spurlock, the private event will honor the sixteen official selections of this year's Festival, which launches on May 18th and streams online, screens around the country, and is broadcasted and distributed as a DVD all year long. The fourth annual Media That Matters Film Festival is made possible in part by the National Film Network, Sundance Channel and Netflix.

The Awards Ceremony also honors Andrew Schwartzman and Malkia Cyril, winners of MediaRights' first annual Just Media awards for achievements in media policy reform. Schwartzman will receive the Just Media Lifetime Achievement Award and Cyril will receive the Just Media Emerging Leader Award. The Just Media Project is MediaRights' new initiative to connect filmmakers and activists around pressing media policy issues. The Just Media Project is made possible in part by the Ford Foundation and the Open Society Institute.
