Factory Farming Needs a Clean Up!

Have you seen The Meatrix? The factory farms that Moopheus warns us about produce 500 million tons of animal waste annually. The current administration thinks it is perfectly okay to discharge the waste into the nations water supply presenting serious risks to public health and the environment. A federal appeals court says this policy stinks and needs to change.

J.R. Pegg from AlterNet reports on the federal appeals court ruling that took place last monday. Regulations have failed to ensure that factory farms would be held accountable for discharging animal wastes into the nation's waters and therefore they must be changed. This is an enormous victory for environmentalists who filed suit in February of 2003.
