I am a WASP who found deep soul stirring meaning in your film of the insightful poem. I would love to see what you do next. Great job.

KICKIN' !!! Thank goodness I am not alone in my belief that a person's beauty comes from their soul and not their weight, fashions or ethnicity. Once, when a woman told me that "she was black BUT beautiful" I froze in anger and did not have the words to tell her what my soul was screaming. This film does it beautifully.

This is amazing. If there were only one video I could link back to, it'd be this one.

I thought this was a great film explaining how today's society influences you so much in so many different ways and how a person can really forget who they really are and become someone else or want to become someone else.

This is the best thing I have seen on the internet, period.
I am sharing it with all my family and friends young and old, male and female.
It is strong, smart, funny and I believe it will always be relevant.
Sincerely,
Bob from Tucson

WOW!!!!!! That was outstanding. EVERY WOMAN ON THE PLANET NEEDS TO SEE THIS MOVIE...

The film is contradictory. The young man asked the woman about her ethnicity to get a conversation going. His problem wasn't a desire to have her conform to some Western standard. Like so much other victim silliness these days, she twisted his words to give herself a platform to whine. The film makes those concerned about being authentic to their heritage look whiny and silly. The stage could be set in a much better way. Have another woman who has bought the image this woman protests say something condescending to her. Then let her make her statement. That would make more sense.

Hey Giuppi,

Adriel Luis, the poet who wrote and performs "Slip of the Tongue" in Karen Lum's film, has a book out called "How to Make Juice." Slip of the Tongue is one of the poems included in the collection, and it happens to be the sample provided on the book's website: www.adrizzle.com. Enjoy!

Anybody knows where I can find a transcript of the video Slip of the Tongue or the original poem? That would be great, thanx.

The short Slip of the Tongue really speaks to me.

I love "It's not make-up that they put on their faces, it's make believe". That really hits me, because I totally believe make-up should enhance features that makes one a person, than to totally cover-up and not be yourself.

It's all the hype, I've let it stop getting to me everytime I look at a magazine cover or a woman passing by. Everything is Photoshopped, nothing is real on those covers. And besides, when I see a perfect looking person walking down the street, I just say to myself: "Look, no one's perfect. She may appear to be perfect, but who knows what's going on on the inside".
