I am against the war also. But the war is on now. You cannot just turn your back when you are fighting. While I would not join this particular war myself I do applaud the brave men in women who are posted in Iraq and else where. If the country doesn't have an army the country is defensless. I am an avid reader and student of the art of war and reducing the number of soldiers in an army is not good at all for the country. Think about that before you try to get rid of our armed forces. Do you want to be left defensless? Think about it. And yes this has been a very ill informed video. The questions that the guy asked the recruiters were, for lack of a better term, stupid and childish. " What if I want to go platinum"? Is this guy serious?

the guy making this film said that he got two different story's from the recruiters, insunuating that one must be lying. in fact, both recruiters were telling the truth. also, the guy with the counter recruitment org is way off and has a political agenda; kill recruitment to kill the war.. this film is one-sided, biased and ill informed. kudo's to the inspiring filmaker though, good effort. p.s.- I am against the war and bush...

I am ex-Navy and I have the following to add:

-Counter recruiting is a good idea.
-It is disturbing the way certain "groups" of people are targetted for military recruitment while others are not.
-The female recruiter wasn't lying; she was painting things in a positive light-except for one comment she made. I detected the suggestion from her that the young man should omit information about his wrist so the Dr. wouldn not ask too many questions...
-This is a complex issue which the film was too short to address

Barely scratched the surface. While there are many cases of recruiters that do actually lie to potential soldiers the female that was included is not one of them. She was referring to the Reserve components, which require a minimum of one weekend a month, 2 weeks out of a year to train. Being "deployed" does NOT always mean going to Iraq or Afghanistan- sometimes it requires the unit to serve as replacements for the unit that DOES go to combat. That could mean relaxing in the barracks in Germany, Italy, or even a base in the continental United States. The only dishonorable thing she did was suggesting that the young man keep his wrist injury a secret.
As far as counter-recruiting I think that their mission requires more thought. Just because the army doesn't reach its recruiting goals doesn't mean the war will simply stop, or that it won't have the numbers to continue(or complete) the mission. There is the "stop-loss" that prevents soldiers from separating from the army, and lengthened deployments; what used to be a 6-month tour can now be an 18-month tour. The so-called lack of manpower will not change the mission; it will only spread the soldiers thin. I'm anti-war but pro-military. I support the troops who give up their right state their disagreement with their own government, and choose to follow orders regardless of if it's moral or ethical. I don't support the leader of this administration as far as this war on "terror." Counter-recruiting is a good idea. Nobody should join the service unless they are absolutely sure. The reasoning behind this concept just needs better logic.
