Alex Rivera, Producer/Director

Alex Rivera is a New York-based digital media artist and filmmaker. Through the past 5 years he’s made work in digital video and on the Internet that addresses concerns of the Latino community through a language of humor, satire, and metaphor. His work has been screened at The Museum of Modern Art, The Guggenheim Museum, Lincoln Center, on PBS, as well as at film festivals, universities, libraries, union halls, and community centers. Rivera has received support from various foundations including The Rockefeller Foundation, The Sundance Institute, Creative Capital, The Jerome Foundation, The New York Foundation for the Arts and The US/Mexico Fund for Culture. http://alexrivera.com.
Bernardo Ruiz, Co-Producer
Bernardo Ruiz is a writer and mediamaker who works on both sides of the narrative-documentary border. He has held writing residencies at Yaddo (Saratoga Springs, NY) and at La Napoule (France.) He is the recipient of a 2001 New York Foundation on the Arts (NYFA) grant in Film and a 2001 “Emerging Maker” grant from Latino Public Broadcasting (LPB). More recently he received a development grant from LPB to write a narrative script set in Brooklyn and Mexico. Bernardo produced the core element of P.O.V.’s first ‘Borders’ series: ‘Migrations’ — a web-based documentary project that worked with three teens from the US-Mexico border. He is currently directing episodes of the hybrid documentary and animation series, “Postcards From Buster” for WGBH-TV. His second narrative short, “Night Magic,” will air July 15th, 2004 on Channel 13/WNET’s REEL NY.
