FILMMAKER BIOS
Karen Lum, Director
Karen Lum began filmmaking as a freshman at Skyline High School in Oakland, CA, in a video production class. Her brother, also involved with filmmaking, introduced her to the Oakland-based youth media organization Youth Sounds Factory. Through this prolific program, she has produced a few shorts, including Slip of the Tongue and Culture Shock. Currently a junior, Karen aspires to attend New York University one day to study film.
Youth Sounds Factory, Producer
Youth Sounds Factory is an Oakland-based media and arts organization serving school-age youth through programs in video, audio, and music production in a wide variety of school-based and after school programs. Founded in 2001, Youth Sounds is now one of the Bay Area’s largest daily digital media arts providers for youth.
