ABOUT THE FILM
The Lower East Side Girls Club was founded in 1996 to address the egregious lack of services for girls in downtown Manhattan. The images in this entirely girl-created film provide a vivid alternative to the images imposed on girls by fashion magazines and commercial television. The girls who appear in Rebel were given one simple screen direction “express yourself.” The result is a work of incredible spirit and positive energy.
