ABOUT THE FILM
More About As We Sleep
In the summer of 2002, Marcie Lotzgeselles’ parents welcomed documentary filmmaker Elizabeth McDonald into their home in Escondido, California. Together they told the story of Marcie’s tragedy to raise awareness of the abuse that surprisingly can take place in group homes for the developmentally disabled. McDonald hopes to show the film in assisted-living facilities in order to educate responsible caregivers and prevent further cases of abuse. The statistics presented in the film are based on data provided by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. The film was executive produced by Spyworm TV and Shelby Gregory.
